RAID Data Recovery

What is RAID and how is it built and some frequent raid data loss and recovery will be introduced in this article to let you know more about RAID and its data recovery. We will show you a recovery tutorial with price affordable software to recover RAID files in this article.

What is RAID?

In simple words, RAID is advantageous hard disk array for better data storage and performance to meet different data storage requirements. In theory, RAID is an acronym for Redundant Array of Independent Disks. With RAID enabled on a storage system you can connect two or more drives in the system so that they act like one big fast drive or set them up so that one drive in the system is used to automatically and instantaneously duplicate (or mirror) your data for real-time backup. The frequent used RAID are RAID0, RAID1, RAID5, RAID10, RAID6, RAID3, 4… And there simple explaination is as following.

RAID 0+1 (or 01) is a striped data set (RAID 0) which is then mirrored (RAID 1). A RAID 0+1 array requires a minimum of four drives: two to hold the striped data, plus another two to mirror the first pair.

Advantange of RAID01 is reducing the work of adminstrators to devide data section when storing data.

RAID 1+0 (or 10) seems like a combination of mirrored data set (RAID 1) which is then striped (RAID 0), hence the “1+0” name indecates that this RAID has the two advantages of both RAID1 and RAID0. Requrements of RAID1+0 is minimum of four drives – two mirrored drives to hold half of the striped data, plus another two mirrored for the other half of the data.

RAID 6 (striped disks with dual parity) combines four or more disks in a way that protects data against loss of any two disks.

Advantageous with data correction by RAID5, a striped set RAID with distributed parity or interleave parity requiring 3 or more disks. Distributed parity requires all drives but one to be present to operate; drive failure requires replacement, but the array is not destroyed by a single drive failure.

Advantages of RAID5 is very good. Hot sparing and automatic rebuild are usually featured on hardware RAID controllers supporting RAID 5 (software RAID 5 will require down-time).

RAID 3, RAID 4 (not often used)

RAID 3 or 4 (striped disks with dedicated parity) combines three or more disks in a way that protects data against loss of any one disk.

Data is striped across all disk in the array.

RAID 1 mirrors the contents of the disks, making a form of 1:1 ratio real time mirroring.

RAID 0 (striped disks) distributes data across multiple disks in ways that gives improved speed at any given instant. If one disk fails, however, all of the data on the array will be lost, as there is neither parity nor mirroring.

Data Distater Strikes RAID

RAID consists different levels of RAID and with different data storage theory. Since most RAID is made by a few disks that makes the data disater strikes with chance if one disk fails, the chance of data loss may come. As we know some RAID has data protection but not that complete or there is always leak of data storage like hard disk bad sector occurs, software malfunction brings data loss, (partition software failure like PQmagic merging partitions failure, PQmagic is not able to resize disk size and system crashes…), and along with some other human errors could also bring data storage is high risk in RAID. What shall we do when data loss strikes when we have RAID?

RAID Data Recovery

When using RAID, your files on your hard drive mostly are pretty important and RAID is often used on work station. Among the data recovery market, data recovery service is usually more expensive than data recovery software. And we forgot to tell you RAID is the most expensive in data recovery service. Most company would price more than $1000.00 if you suffer RAID data loss. Today, we introduce some useful price affordable data recovery software for RAID to restore raid files. And most of them are within $100.00. So RAID data recovery software is the first choice for raid data recovery.

What shall you do once RAID data loss happens?

Keep the incident where it is – Do not make any changes for the RAID drive once there is a data loss or raid failure. All data recovery expert and data recovery software company would let you know that any new file to the drive where you lost files will lead to data overwritten and it reduces the chance of data recovery.

Data Recovery Software for RAID

Lucky it is that there are some data recovery software that works with RAID like iCare Data Recovery, DiskInternal RAID Recovery… Here we would like to show you how to recover raid files with DiskInternal RAID Recovery.

Why are we introducing DiskInternal RAID Recovery?

1, DiskInternal RAID Recovery is able to restore files from a RAID array no matter created by software, hardware or native. Most raid data recoverysoftware only work with Hardware RAID like iCare Data Recovery, Easeus Data Recovery Wizard. (The vendor both claim on its official site that their program is able to restore files from hardware RAID, which means only hardware built RAID files can be restored.)

2, Rebuild RAID Array with this raid data recovery software program is able to be performed. Most data recovery software is not able to perform RAID reconstruction but DiskInternal RAID Recovery does the job.

3, Assemble RAID configurations manually via a simple drag-and-drop operation. Raid Recovery re-constructs an array from the available hard disks being simply dragged and dropped, and detects the right type and size or the array as well as the order of the disks automatically.

Other features of DiskInternal RAID Recovery

• Recover damaged raid arrays
• Recover files from damaged disks
• Recover files from inaccessible drive
• Recover corrupt or damaged partition table.
• Restore disks after crash
Unformat NTFS drives
• Recover files deleted by accident
Recover Photos from the erased or formatted media
• Undelete files deleted from the Recycle Bin.

  1. DiskInternals…
Very good at finding files on a raw disk but the program does not reassemble them correctly in the correct format ( most of the time). I needed WordPerfect files (10s of thousands), Quickbooks data files primarily, both conversions produced incompatible file formats. Worked on Excel files. For the price, and no telephone contact number or support think twice.
